📂 CDS Exam - General Knowledge

Description

Genetics and Heredity encompasses the study of heredity—how traits pass from parents to offspring—and the molecular basis through genes and DNA. The subject covers Mendel's laws of inheritance, genetic variation and mutation, chromosome inheritance, and how genetic information controls organism characteristics. Learners will understand how traits are inherited and how genetic variation occurs in populations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this subject, learners will be able to understand Mendel's laws of inheritance. They will analyze genetic crosses predicting offspring traits. Learners will understand gene action and dominance patterns. They will evaluate genetic variation sources. They will analyze chromosome inheritance patterns. Finally, learners will synthesize information to understand how heredity passes genetic information across generations.
